Dr. Ritushree Kukreti at CSIR-IGIB is working on pharmacogenomics and exploring its functional aspects. Her work exploits the genomic information for biomarker discovery for efficient treatment management and molecular diagnostic applications. Largely exploring the genetic aspect and developing knowledge resources to support precision medicine for drug response phenotype in the Indian population for neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders is her key interest. Dr Aastha Mishra in the Skill India program will focus on DNA library preparation workflows, a crucial first step of next-generation sequencing. The workflow will discuss library preparation kits according to the specific coverage requirements, read length, and speed of the DNA sequencing techniques such as Targeted, Metagenomics, and Whole Genome Sequencing. Dr Krishnendu Chakraborty in the Skill India program will discuss the basics of nucleic acids including DNA and RNA structure, the central dogma, and some crucial techniques like DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, semi-quantitative PCR and quantitative PCR. More about lab activity
Within the broad domain of bioinformatics and computational biology, Jitendra Narayan's lab mainly focuses on chromosomal rearrangement, genome analysis and genome evolution. It is obvious in computational biology/ bioinformatics area to get distracted by the flood of NGS and epigenomic data, but currently we are trying to make sense of these genomic floods. Skill India Mission is a government scheme launched in 2015. It is an umbrella scheme that has many skilling schemes and programmes under it. The chief objective is to empower the youth of the country with adequate skill sets that will enable their employment in relevant sectors and also improve productivity.
